It was third month of her pregnancy. They had waited for their first child for five years. But he hadn’t noticed. She was disappointed.
*
Today he would fulfil his life’s purpose. His only regret was that he would die childless. He wanted a son. Perhaps the Almighty had wished it that way.
*
She had prepared a sumptuous dinner; today she would tell him.

  2. I liked the alternating viewpoint construction. It worked well for this tale.

  3. Timing is not perfect... maybe she can still call the authorities... and as Sandra says the alternating viewpoint gives tension to this.

  4. A powerful story - a true example of showing not telling.. most poignantly i think she perhaps collapsed for her child - for all of us..somebody's child no matter our age..

  5. I wonder how he came to conclude that killing others was his life's purpose? Very sad and fitting for the times we live in.

  6. Sad that she lost her child but perhaps better for her not to be carrying the offspring of a terrorist.
